Purpose

This humanitarian campaign provides free dental services to disadvantaged children, with particular emphasis on rural communities in Hunedoara County.

The project starts from the principle that every child deserves access to quality medical care regardless of where they live or their family’s financial circumstances.

It combines treatment with prevention and education, so that the effect of a single visit continues long after the child leaves the surgery.

Who can benefit

  • Children under 18 years of age.
  • Children living in rural Hunedoara County.
  • Families with a combined monthly income under 3,000 RON.
  • Children enrolled in education.
  • Children requiring paediatric dental treatment.

Estimated capacity: approximately 80 children per month.

Free services provided

  • Specialist dental consultation.
  • Professional hygiene: scaling, professional brushing, fluoride treatment and stain removal.
  • Minimally invasive treatments: caries treatment, fissure sealing, temporary or permanent tooth sealing, fillings, extractions and root canal treatment where required.
  • Dental trauma and emergencies.

Team and infrastructure

  • Dentists and assistants trained in paediatric dentistry.
  • Compliant dental centres.
  • Modern equipment appropriate for children.

Why it matters

Toothache keeps a child home from school and affects their sleep, their eating and their confidence. A problem left untreated at eight becomes a complicated and expensive treatment at eighteen.

For a rural family, the distance to the nearest surgery and the cost of treatment are often enough for the visit to be postponed indefinitely. This campaign removes both barriers.
